Best Candidates for Brella Sweat Reduction

Brella is designed specifically for underarm sweating. If you are bothered by underarm odor, feel like antiperspirants are ineffective, notice significant sweat under your arms even when you’re not active, or find yourself having to change your shirt during the day to stay dry, Brella may be a perfect option to address your excessive sweating.

Depending on your unique needs, we might have additional or alternate treatments to recommend for you, including miraDry sweat reduction.

What to Expect

Treatment with the Brella underarm patch is quick and easy. To begin treatment, you will lie down with your underarm as flat as possible, and your treatment provider will cleanse and dry the treatment area. Then, the Brella patch will be applied and gently massaged for approximately 3 minutes in each armpit. Each underarm will be cleaned again following treatment to ensure no residue remains. After that, you can immediately carry on with your day’s activities!

Recovery & Results

Over the next few days after treatment, the active ingredient in Brella will cause your body to produce less sweat in the treatment area. The treatment will not completely stop sweating in your underarms, but you should see dramatically less sweat, lasting up to 4 months or even longer before a retreatment is necessary. You should not have any lasting discomfort following treatment, though some redness and irritation in the armpits is common.

Brella FAQs

Q. How do I prepare for my Brella treatment?
You will need to shave or trim your underarms at least 48 hours before treatment. On the day of your appointment, wear loose-fitting clothing with easy access to your underarms, such as a tank top or dress. Make sure you drink plenty of water, so you are hydrated. Avoid wearing deodorant or antiperspirant to the appointment, if possible.
Q. Who might not be the best candidate for Brella?
Brella works on all skin types and is proven to be safe and well tolerated. It’s not approved for children or adolescents who have excessive underarm sweating, and cannot be used for excessive sweating in areas of the body besides the underarms. If you have an infection, cuts, or skin irritation under your arms, we may need to postpone treatment.
Q. What does the treatment feel like?
During the procedure, the treated area may start to feel warm as the time passes. You may also feel some stinging or pins and needles or other sensations that may become more noticeable as the treatment takes place. If you start to feel excessive discomfort, communicate this to your treatment provider. In a clinical study, Brella-treated patients reported an average discomfort level of 2.4 (on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is minimal) while the treatment took place.
Q. When can I use deodorant/antiperspirant or shave again?
You can apply deodorant or antiperspirant right after treatment, unless your underarms feel irritated or tender. If so, wait until it feels comfortable to apply these products. You can also start shaving your underarms as soon as it feels comfortable to do so.
Q. How many Brella treatments will I need?
A single treatment session should provide reduced underarm sweating for 3 to 4 months. To maintain your results, you should have regular follow up treatments. If you do not continue treatments, you should return to the level of sweating you experienced before your initial treatment session.
Q. Will Brella treatments affect the appearance of my underarms?
No, these treatments do not change the look of the underarm in any way.
