Avéli® Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is a common cosmetic concern that affects an estimated 90% of women at some point in their lives. While there are now a number of cellulite treatment options available, many of our Minneapolis patients find that it can be a bit overwhelming to sift through the options and choose the best one for them. Our knowledgeable team of skin care experts will help you navigate the cellulite reduction process from start to finish.

Avéli® is the latest advancement in the fight against cellulite, and we have found this therapy to be particularly effective in delivering a smoother appearance to the skin on the thighs and buttocks.

Avéli is a minimally invasive, single treatment that is FDA cleared to reduce the appearance of cellulite. SpaVie is the first practice in Minnesota to offer this advanced cellulite treatment, which works by manually cutting the connective tissue bands that pull on the skin, creating the dreaded dimples characteristic of cellulite.

Why Choose SpaVie?

  • We offer the latest non-surgical cellulite reduction methods and can custom-tailor a set of treatments to help you achieve the smoother skin you want.
  • Headed by one of the leading female plastic surgeons in the nation, Dr. Jennifer Harrington, SpaVie is proud to be a premier destination for women and men interested in bringing out their best look.
  • SpaVie’s location in Plymouth serves the Twin Cities, as well as outlying communities including Minnetonka, Wayzata, St. Cloud and Sartell.

Best Candidates for Avéli Cellulite Reduction

Both women and men who are bothered by the appearance of cellulite on their thighs and/or buttocks may benefit from Avéli cellulite treatments. The ideal candidate for Avéli is someone who is in good overall health and has realistic expectations about their results. While Avéli can achieve significant cellulite reduction and smoother skin after treatment, it does not necessarily remove 100% of cellulite dimples.

Avéli may be a good option in particular for those with busy schedules, since most people only need a single treatment to see the results they want.

Benefits of Avéli Cellulite Treatment

Avéli offers a number of key benefits when it comes to reducing the appearance of cellulite and getting the smoother, more even skin you want.

  • Targets the root cause of cellulite. By releasing the tight bands of connective tissue under the skin that cause cellulite, Avéli can offer effective, long-lasting results unmatched by many other skin treatments for cellulite.
  • Minimally invasive. Avéli treatments require only very small incisions and don’t require anesthesia or extensive downtime.
  • Requires only a single treatment. Most of our Minneapolis patients are able to see optimal results after one Avéli cellulite reduction treatment.
  • Clinically proven results. Studies have shown that Avéli’s minimally invasive technology can safely and effectively treat moderate to severe cellulite

Before Your Avéli Cellulite Treatment

Before your cellulite treatment, you will have a consultation with one of our experienced providers who will listen to your cosmetic goals, perform a physical examination and help you determine if Avéli could be right for you. If you decide you’d like to move forward with Avéli cellulite reduction treatments, your provider will create a customized treatment plan for you, which may involve Avéli on its own or in combination with other nonsurgical treatment options, depending on your specific goals.

If you are also interested in improving your body contour while treating cellulite, for example, we offer several complementary options worth considering. CoolSculpting® can remove unwanted fat cells so you can enjoy both the shape and skin tone you really want in your midsection and thighs, while EMSCULPT® NEO can help to improve muscle tone and definition.

What Causes Cellulite?

Cellulite happens when bands of connective tissue beneath the skin’s surface called septae become tightened and put downward tension on the skin. This tension then pushes fat cells upward, creating the characteristic “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” bumps of cellulite on the surface.

While the exact reasons why this occurs are still not fully understood, researchers believe that a variety of factors may contribute to the development of cellulite, including genetics, hormone imbalances, aging,  pregnancy and lifestyle factors.

Contrary to popular belief, cellulite does not exclusively occur as a result of weight gain, and many petite people also struggle with cellulite dimples. While losing weight may help to improve cellulite for some people, it is typically not a complete solution.

How Avéli Cellulite Reduction Works

No matter the underlying cause, the only lasting way to effectively remove cellulite is to release the tension from the tight tissue bands. Avéli works by cutting these bands in a precise, targeted way that allows us to create a smoother skin tone without over-treatment and with minimal downtime or side effects.

Before starting treatment, we will administer a local anesthetic in the area to be treated to maximize your comfort. The thin, needle-like Avéli device is inserted through several small incisions and carefully guided beneath the skin to locate and sever the connective tissue bands creating cellulite dimples.

While the total treatment time varies, the average Avéli treatment session from start to finish takes around 1 to 2 hours to complete. We are excited to offer our Avéli patients BTL CELLUTONE as part of their cellulite treatment. CELLUTONE uses the power of therapeutic vibrations to increase lymphatic drainage, waste elimination and blood flow. It addresses the main factors causing cellulite formation and can lead to a considerable improvement in post-treatment skin appearance.

What to Expect After Avéli

Because Avéli involves manipulating and cutting tissue beneath the skin, some bruising and swelling after treatment is expected. AS the local anesthetic wears off, some discomfort may occur for the first day or two after treatment. However, this is typically easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

Bruising and tenderness may remain for up to a month, gradually fading as your body heals. During this time, it’s important to follow all post-procedure guidelines to optimize your healing process and results. You will need to avoid strenuous exercise and activities that put added strain on the treated areas for the first few days or weeks after your cellulite reduction treatment, or until we give you the go-ahead.

While complications with Avéli are rare, we will discuss potential risks with you before treatment so you know what to expect and what to watch for. If you have any concerns during your recovery, our team is always available to answer your questions and ensure a smooth healing process.

Your New Look

You may start to notice an improvement in the appearance of cellulite within days after your Avéli treatment, once initial swelling begins to subside. However, as bruising and tenderness resolve over the following weeks, your results will become more noticeable. Most people see their final results develop around 1 to 3 months after treatment.

One of the key benefits of Avéli is its long-lasting results. Because the treatment directly targets and releases the bands of connective tissue that cause cellulite, improvements are typically maintained for years. While individual results vary, most people do not require additional treatments.
